Orbital Shaker / Decoloration Shaker, Cyclotron Oscillation – Faithful | FBS-O10 & FBS-O20
The Faithful FBS-O10 and FBS-O20 orbital shakers are purpose-designed for laboratory procedures requiring gentle, consistent circular agitation of samples in trays, dishes, and shallow containers. These applications include fixation and staining of electrophoretic gels, Coomassie Blue staining and destaining of protein gels, silver nitrate staining and development, immunological assay washes, hybridisation procedures, and general solution agitation where turbulence must be precisely controlled.
Both models share identical physical dimensions and construction: an ABS outer shell, anodised aluminium tray, four-horizontal-point driving mechanism, and a brushless motor for quiet, reliable, and low-maintenance long-term operation. The cyclotron oscillation mode produces smooth, even circular motion across the entire tray surface, ensuring uniform liquid contact with all samples regardless of their position on the platform. Bidirectional automatic rotation switchover is included, further improving mixing uniformity and preventing unidirectional flow patterns from developing during extended shaking cycles.
The primary functional difference between the two models is amplitude and speed range. The FBS-O10 operates at 10 mm amplitude with a speed range of 100 to 500 rpm, suited to applications requiring more rapid but contained agitation. The FBS-O20 operates at a wider 20 mm amplitude with a speed range of 30 to 250 rpm, providing gentler and more sweeping motion for larger gel trays or protocols requiring lower shear. Both models use a rotary coding switch for speed setting and an LCD display for speed readout, with PID intelligent control and Hoare speed sensing for precise and consistent performance.
Safety features include intelligent low-speed start to protect fragile gels or samples at initiation, and blocking protection to automatically stop the motor if the tray is obstructed. Additional controller functions include deviation calibration and power-off memory to maintain set parameters through power interruptions.
